ASD’s Leadership Class Challenges Students with Creative Team-Building Exercise

Exciting times are underway in our Leadership class at American School Dhahran! This week, high school students teamed up for a hands-on challenge to build the tallest free-standing structure using spaghetti sticks, tape, string and topped it off with a whole marshmallow.
The challenge pushed students to think critically, communicate effectively and collaborate as a team, key skills that are foundational to strong leadership. Beyond the technical task of engineering the structure, students had to navigate differing ideas, delegate responsibilities and adapt their plans when things didn’t go as expected.
This innovative approach is designed to teach students that leadership is more than just personality or title; it’s about character demonstrated through action. By engaging in this activity, students learn how to manage pressure, think creatively under constraints and embrace failure as a stepping stone to success.
Through activities like this, our students are building a strong foundation for their future and problem-solving abilities that will serve them well in any leadership role they pursue.
