A student co-captain of American School Dhahran U16 girls’ football team described this season’s NESAC tournament as an unforgettable experience, highlighting both the competitive level of play and the personal growth the team achieved along the way.

Hosted by the American Community School Beirut, the tournament brought together strong regional teams in an energetic and challenging environment. ASD players developed lessons that extended beyond technical performance and into teamwork, leadership and resilience. The captain explained that success required more than skill, emphasizing the importance of supporting teammates, staying calm under pressure and recognizing small victories throughout each match.

The defining moment came late in the championship match after a scoreless contest. With only minutes remaining, ASD found the decisive goal, a moment the captain said reflected the trust built through weeks of preparation and collective effort.

Players credited their coaches for preparing them both technically and mentally throughout the season. The team expressed appreciation for head coach Ms. Stephenie Ngai and assistant coaches Ms. Celia Selidio and Mr. Wyatt Franz, noting their guidance and encouragement helped them approach each match with confidence and composure.

Students described the season as more than a tournament, emphasizing connection and leadership developed through shared goals and responsibility. The captain summarized the experience simply: “That final whistle wasn’t just the end of a game, it was the celebration of weeks of hard work, belief and unity.”

The team’s performance reflects American School Dhahran’s commitment to athletics as a learning environment where students build resilience, leadership and collaboration. Through regional competition, ASD athletes demonstrate competitive success and also the character and sportsmanship developed through the school’s programs.
