American School of Dhahran’s U19 girls football team captured the championship at the NESAC tournament in Bahrain, marking a historic achievement for the program.

This year’s event featured seven participating schools from across the region, including teams from Kuwait, Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates. The tournament’s round-robin format created a competitive environment that tested each team over several matches.

ASD began the tournament in dominant fashion, opening with an emphatic 8-0 victory over AISA Lions. The team continued its strong play throughout the competition and entered the final day as the No. 2 seed, setting up a championship matchup against AISK Lions.

Despite a last-minute pitch change and delayed start, the Scorpions remained focused. The team delivered a confident and composed performance in the final, defeating AISK Lions 3-1 to secure the championship title.

The victory represents a historic moment for the school. It is the first time in ASD history that both U19 girls and boys football teams advanced to the finals of the tournament, with the girls leading the way by claiming one of the two titles for the Scorpions.

The girls team was coached by Ms. Lorin Ressler and Ms. Celeste Guerrero served as the assistant coach. Mr. Orion Cervio supported the team as a chaperone.
