On Oct. 15, American School Dhahran (ASD) came together to celebrate Unity Day, an event dedicated to promoting kindness, acceptance, and inclusion in schools. Unity Day aligns perfectly with October’s designation as National Bullying Prevention month, recognized in the U.S., emphasizing the importance of creating safe, supportive environments where every student feels valued.

Unity Day originated in 2011 as part of a broader effort to combat bullying by encouraging students, educators and communities to stand united against bullying behaviors. Wearing orange as a symbol of unity, participants spread messages of respect and belonging.

At ASD, our counselors have played a pivotal role throughout the month, working closely with students to teach and reinforce essential values such as respect, inclusion, love, care and kindness. These lessons go beyond the classroom; they are the foundation of the culture we nurture daily within our school community.

We are proud of the inclusive and supportive environment we have built together at ASD. Our goal is not only to help students understand the value of friendship but also to instill the school’s core values in every student. We want every graduate to leave ASD as a well-rounded individual who respects others and is prepared to contribute positively to their communities.

As we continue to celebrate Unity Day and the spirit of Anti-Bullying month, ASD remains committed to encouraging an environment where every student can thrive, feel safe and know they belong.
