American School Dhahran’s 13 first and second year International Baccalaureate Visual Arts students presented their semi-final exhibition this week, transforming ASD’s reception area into a vibrant gallery highlighting their developing portfolios, creative processes and artistic vision.

The two-day event opened with an on-campus viewing for ASD students across grade levels. Classes explored the exhibition, asked questions of the IB artists and engaged with the work on display. Elementary art students were given an interactive task to identify shapes, techniques and design elements within the pieces, an activity that connected the early stages of art learning with the advanced work of IB students.

On the second day, families were invited to campus to view their children’s artwork and that of their peers. Parents had the opportunity to speak with student artists, learn more about their inspirations and gain insight into the methods and decision making behind each piece.

The exhibition served as an important milestone for IB visual arts students as they prepare for their final exhibition later this academic year.

Well done to all participating students for their creativity and dedication. We look forward to celebrating their continued growth in the months ahead.
