American School Dhahran U16 boys and girls basketball teams delivered a strong and memorable performance at the recent NESAC Tournament hosted by the American International School of Abu Dhabi, highlighting the depth, growth and character of ASD athletics.
Competing against top regional programs, the U16 girls advanced to the championship game and earned a second-place finish following a hard-fought final against International College Beirut. Throughout the tournament, the team demonstrated resilience and teamwork, competing with intensity and pride until the final buzzer.
The U16 boys secured a third-place finish after narrowly missing a berth in the championship game. In a tightly contested semifinal against International College Beirut, ASD fell by one point in overtime. The team’s determination, discipline and ability to execute in high-pressure moments defined their tournament performance and reflected significant growth over the season.
Across both programs, ASD student-athletes represented the school community with outstanding sportsmanship, unity and commitment. Their performances underscore how ASD’s athletic programs foster perseverance, leadership and confidence while strengthening student life beyond the classroom.
The school extends appreciation to coaches Mr. Wyatt Franz and Ms. Kat Oefelein for leading the boys team, and Mr. Phillip Young and Ms. Ashlie Jensen for guiding the girls team. Their mentorship and dedication continue to shape student-athletes who excel in competition and in character.
