ASD Volleyball Teams Shine at SAIKAC Tournament

American School Dhahran (ASD) U16 boys volleyball teams delivered an outstanding performance at the recent SAIKAC tournament hosted by British International School Riyadh, showcasing teamwork, skill and sportsmanship throughout the competition.

The ASD A Team dominated the tournament, going undefeated and capturing the championship title. In the final match against KAUST, the boys cruised through the first set 25–10 before battling back from behind in the second to win 25–23, sealing victory with a dramatic block at match point. Their focus and resilience under pressure demonstrated the strength of ASD’s athletics program and the dedication of its student athletes.

The ASD B Team also impressed with their determination and growth. After a slow start on the first day, they bounced back to win both of their matches on day two, capturing the consolation bracket title and finishing with a perfect 2–0 record for the day. Their perseverance reflected the true spirit of competition and teamwork.

A big thank you to coaches Mr. Wyatt Franz and Ms. Kate Oefelein for coaching the boys’ team, to Ms. Antonette Briones and Ms. Chona Panuela for coaching the girls’ team and for inspiring our athletes with their guidance, leadership and encouragement. Their commitment has played a major role in making this season a tremendous success.

Overall, both ASD teams displayed exceptional commitment, unity and growth throughout the tournament, making it a memorable and highly successful weekend for ASD volleyball. Congratulations to all the players and coaches for representing our school community with pride and excellence.
