American School Dhahran hosted its annual Walkathon, uniting the ASD and BSD communities in support of Best Buddies International and the ASD Custodian Drive, an annual event that reflects the schools’ shared commitment to service, empathy and inclusive community engagement.

Best Buddies is an International organization dedicated to ending the social, physical and economic exclusion of the more than 200 million people globally living with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through awareness and advocacy, the organization promotes inclusion and meaningful opportunities for individuals with IDD worldwide.

The Walkathon also highlighted the ASD Custodian Drive, an annual initiative that honors the school’s custodial staff for their dedication and invaluable contributions to maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming campus. The drive serves as a meaningful expression of gratitude for the essential role custodians play in supporting the daily life of the school community.

Students demonstrated enthusiastic participation throughout the event, walking and running together in support of both causes. Their collective efforts fostered a strong spirit of giving, unity and civic responsibility, reinforcing the importance of service beyond the classroom.

ASD is proud of its students for their selfless commitment and active involvement in initiatives that raise awareness and make a positive impact. Events such as the Walkathon underscore the school’s mission to cultivate compassionate action, encouraging students to lead with empathy, take responsibility and contribute meaningfully to their community.
