The BSME U13 tournament took place in Abu Dhabi, where 25 BSD students proudly represented the school, competing against other small British schools in the Middle East. The boys participated in volleyball, football and athletics, while the girls competed in netball, football and athletics.
On the first day, the boys dominated on the volleyball courts, displaying superb cohesion, dynamics and dominating every game to be crowned champions. Meanwhile, the girls excelled in football, reaching the finals after superb performances and securing gold in a thrilling penalty shootout.
The second day saw the boys continue their dominance in football, controlling every game and scoring some outstanding goals. However, they narrowly missed out on a third-place finish in a penalty shootout. The girls maintained their strong performance in netball, demonstrating excellent teamwork to secure a respectable 8th place.
In athletics, our students achieved remarkable success yet again. The boys secured podium finishes, winning gold in javelin, long jump and the 800m, while also earning silver in boys shot putt, boys' relay, and girls' javelin, along with bronze in girls' high jump and boys' long jump. The boys' team delivered an outstanding performance across all events, ultimately being crowned athletics champions and the girls teams placed half in an overall 5th place! Our athletics captain was also named "Male Athlete of the Day" after winning two gold and one silver medal!
This was an unforgettable experience for our athletes, making history where they demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship, excelled in their respective sports and competed against peers from across the Middle East.
In what is one of British School Dhahran’s best-ever results, we were crowned overall champions of U13 BSME Games — a historic achievement! A huge thank you to Ms. Eimear McDaid, Mr.Tobias Haslam, Ms. Nourhan Arnaoot and Ms. Rae-Leigh Lyons for their dedication and support throughout this fantastic trip.
