BSD KS3 Students Visit Ithra Theatre for Live Flamenco Performance
SHARE
Today, learning took on a new and inspiring dimension for Key Stage 3 students at British School Dhahran , as they were invited to the prestigious Ithra Theatre to attend a live Flamenco performance. For the morning, textbooks were set aside in favour of an immersive experience in art, culture and expression.
The performance captivated students from the outset, as accomplished Flamenco dancers brought the stage to life through powerful movement, expressive storytelling and soul-stirring rhythms. The intensity and precision of the performance offered a vivid insight into the passion and vibrancy that define Spanish culture.
The experience became even more engaging when the theatre transformed into an interactive learning space. During a live demonstration, students and accompanying staff were invited to participate, learning the fundamentals of rhythmic hand-clapping (palmas) and traditional footwork (zapateado). This shared activity blurred the boundaries between audience and performers, creating a memorable and inclusive atmosphere.
The highlight of the visit came when several BSD students were invited onto the stage to perform alongside the professional dancers. Their confidence and enthusiasm were a source of great pride, showcasing the willingness of BSD students to embrace new challenges beyond the classroom.
The visit concluded on a high note, with students leaving inspired by the music and movement of Flamenco.
A massive thank you to the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) and BSD for making this unforgettable experience possible. ¡OLÉ!
