Thirty-eight primary students traveled to Riyadh to represent British School Dhahran in the inaugural U11 BSME Saudi Games. This landmark event brought together young athletes from schools across the Kingdom, providing an invaluable opportunity for our students to showcase their sporting abilities, challenge themselves in a new environment, and proudly represent BSD on a national platform.
The girls’ teams demonstrated enthusiasm, determination and teamwork in netball. Both the A and B teams approached the tournament with focus and resilience, competing in a series of fast-paced matches against strong opponents. Their communication, strategic play and increasing confidence reflected the effort invested in training this term.
BSD fielded boys’ teams in football and basketball, providing opportunities for athletes to test their skills in two competitive sports. The football teams demonstrated stamina, teamwork and tactical awareness, working collaboratively to advance the ball, defend and support each other. In basketball, players exhibited agility, coordination and quick decision-making, delivering strong performances in each match.
Across all sports, the participation of both A and B teams enabled more students to experience competitive play, fostering growth in both athletic ability and character. Students learned to collaborate under pressure, remain positive in challenging moments, and encourage teammates, developing skills that extend beyond sport.
For many students this was their first experience competing at a national-level event, making it particularly significant. The atmosphere in Riyadh was energetic, with students from across the region gathering to celebrate sportsmanship, teamwork, and physical activity.
Students embraced the opportunity, representing BSD with respect and commitment. Their growth throughout the season, reflected in both performance and mindset, was clear to see. The event also served as an excellent measure of progress, helping students understand their strengths and identify areas for further development.
British School BSD acknowledges all 38 students who participated in the first U11 BSME Saudi Games. Their involvement highlights the school’s commitment to providing extracurricular opportunities that promote physical development, confidence and personal achievement. The school looks forward to further developing its sports program and participating in future competitions.
