Building Spaghetti Bridges and Stronger Connections at ISG Jubail
SHARE
ISG Jubail recently welcomed families for an evening of hands-on creativity during the Family STEAM Night and Spaghetti Building Competition. Organized in collaboration with the Parent Teacher Group, the event invited students and parents to work together as teams, blending imagination, problem-solving and plenty of laughter.
Hosted by Mr. Casey Martin and the PTG, the evening encouraged families to explore STEAM thinking in meaningful and practical ways all while building spaghetti bridges. Throughout the event, Mr. Casey asked participants questions related to science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics. Some questions were hands-on and others required quick reasoning, giving families fun opportunities to think critically while they built.
Teams worked to construct spaghetti bridges that met a specific length requirement and were steady enough to carry weight. After building time ended, each bridge was tested by attaching a bucket and adding 1 kilogram at a time. The winning structures were the ones that could carry the most weight before breaking. First, second and third place winners were announced, bringing excitement and applause from everyone in the room. The first-place bridge held the greatest number of weights, earning cheers from families and staff.
The atmosphere throughout the evening was warm and collaborative, filled with focus, encouragement and joyful moments. Families divided tasks, shared ideas and supported one another through challenges. Every table offered a glimpse of teamwork at its best, with parents and children celebrating each attempt, whether successful or not.
The event reflected ISG Jubail’s belief in learning that brings people together. By blending creativity with connection, the Family STEAM Night created an experience that strengthened relationships and celebrated the spirit of community.
