This week, American School Dhahran was proud to spotlight the meaningful work happening within our Best Buddies program, a cornerstone initiative that exemplifies our core value of compassionate action.

Earlier today, members of ACCEL visited our 83 Best Buddies participants to welcome them warmly into the program. During the visit, ACCEL provided engaging lessons on the importance of people-first language and shared insights on encouraging a culture of true inclusion. These conversations are vital in helping all students understand and appreciate the unique value each individual brings to our school community.

We are excited to announce that the Best Buddies program will hold its first event of the academic year next week. This marks a significant moment as we come together to celebrate friendship, understanding and inclusion. The Best Buddies program has been a proud part of ISG for five years, the same milestone it marks this year in Saudi Arabia. It continues to enrich the lives of our students by promoting meaningful friendships between those with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities.

This program is a shining example of compassionate action in practice. It reminds us that inclusion is not just a goal but a daily commitment to welcoming and supporting one another. We believe every student deserves the chance to belong, thrive and be celebrated for who they are.

We look forward to sharing more updates as our students continue to grow in empathy, leadership and community spirit. Together, we are building a stronger, kinder school, one compassionate action at a time.
