ISG Dammam dedicated the week to raising awareness about diabetes through engaging and educational activities led by the High School Medical Club in collaboration with Ms. Amani Gaddoura. The week served as a reminder of the importance of healthy living and preventive care while encouraging students to take small steps toward better wellbeing.

World Diabetes Day is recognized globally on November 14, and ISG Dammam marked the occasion early with special events on November 11 and 12. Students and staff were encouraged to wear blue, the color representing diabetes awareness, as a show of support and unity.

The High School Medical Club planned a range of interactive sessions designed to reach students across all divisions. Middle and high school advisory classes explored activities that highlighted the importance of balanced nutrition, regular exercise and health awareness. For elementary students in grades 4 and 5, the Medical Club organized a special demonstration in the MPR. The session introduced the two types of diabetes in a way that was age-appropriate and easy to understand. Students also enjoyed creating healthy meals and lunch boxes using food replicas, giving them the chance to learn through play and creativity.

During lunch recess, students visited the picnic table area and a classroom take part in interactive activities focused on diabetes prevention and healthy eating. They could also purchase small items such as keychains and stickers themed around fruits and vegetables to help spread awareness. Throughout the week, screens around the campus displayed photos from previous Diabetes Awareness events, reminding the community of the ongoing commitment to health education.

The theme for this year, “Prevent Diabetes by Eating Healthy,” guided the spirit of the week. Each activity encouraged students to reflect on their daily choices and understand that prevention begins with awareness and action.

Diabetes Awareness Week at ISG Dammam brought together learning, compassion and community spirit. Through the leadership of the Medical Club and the support of teachers and staff, students gained valuable knowledge about maintaining a healthy lifestyle and the importance of caring for themselves and others.
