Empowering Parents in the Digital Age: Highlights from ISG’s Third Parent Engagement Program

On Nov. 4, 2025, ISG hosted its third PEP workshop held at the American School Dhahran (ASD) campus, welcoming parents to the workshop titled “Empowering Parents in the Digital Age: Understanding Your Child’s Technology Landscape at ISG.”

The workshop focused on helping parents navigate the fast-changing world of technology that shapes students’ academic and personal lives. The session provided practical tools and strategies for parents to better understand how digital learning, online safety and technology use impact their children both in and outside the classroom.

The event began with a warm welcome from Superintendent Rhonda Norris, followed by introductions from key ISG speakers: Mr. Hayden Williams, head of educational technology; Mr. Joseph Bearns, director of operations and facilities and Mr. Hans Ott, director of teaching and learning. Each speaker shared their background and described their roles in supporting ISG’s digital learning environment, from technology integration to digital citizenship education.

During the session, Ms. Maha Sousak was recognized for her outstanding work in helping ISG schools earn the Common Sense School badge. This recognition, awarded by Common Sense Education, signifies a school’s commitment to teaching students how to use technology responsibly, safely and ethically.

Parents also participated in open discussions, sharing personal experiences about managing technology at home and exploring ways to encourage healthy digital habits. The workshop concluded with thoughtful advice and take-home activities from ISG staff, aimed at fostering balanced technology use within families.
