ISG Jubail recently welcomed families for an International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) Information Night, led by Mr. Brad Dugan, IBDP Coordinator. The session provided families with a clear understanding of the academic pathways available for high school students and the benefits of pursuing the IBDP.
Families learned about the ISG Jubail Diploma, a certification awarded upon successful completion of required high school credits, as well as International Baccalaureate Certificates, which recognize mastery in individual subjects and the full IB Diploma. Students pursuing the IB Diploma complete courses in six subjects from designated groups, three at standard level and three at higher level, alongside the core components of Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity, Service projects, while earning at least 24 out of a possible 45 points.
The session highlighted the advantages of the IBDP for university preparation, including being well-prepared for academic challenges, a higher admission rate to universities, opportunities to earn college credits before starting and potential exemptions from some university courses. Families explored key elements of the programme, including Theory of Knowledge, CAS projects and the Extended Essay, giving them insight into the student experience and the development of critical thinking, research skills and personal growth.
Mr. Dugan also celebrated the accomplishments of ISG Jubail students, noting that for four years in a row, students have achieved a 100 percent pass rate in the IBDP, with average scores above the world average. The Class of 2025 has had successful university applications across Australia, Bahrain, Canada, England, Hungary, India, Pakistan, the Philippines, South Africa and the United States, demonstrating the dedication of both students and staff to academic excellence and personal growth.
The session concluded with time for questions and families engaged in the conversation, deepening their understanding of the programme and its pathways. Mrs. Tricia Jordaan, our middle and high school counselor, reminded families and students that they will be supported each day as they navigate their IBDP journey.
