Helping Hands in Action: ASD Students Lead Annual Custodian Drive
SHARE
American School Dhahran’s commitment to service and compassionate action was evident this week as high school students from the Helping Hands Club came together for the school’s annual Custodian Drive.
The student-led initiative honors ASD’s custodial staff, whose daily efforts help maintain a safe, welcoming and well-cared-for campus. Students organized and collected appreciation items, care packages and handwritten notes to express gratitude for the custodians’ dedication and hard work. Over time, the drive has become a meaningful tradition that highlights the values of respect, kindness and community at ASD.
Students with a shared passion for service, the Helping Hands Club provides opportunities to make a positive impact both on campus and beyond. With guidance from faculty advisors, members identify needs, plan service projects and take thoughtful action that fosters empathy and responsibility.
Through participation in Helping Hands, students develop leadership and collaboration skills while gaining a deeper understanding of service as an essential part of citizenship. By engaging in real-world acts of kindness, they learn that meaningful change often begins with intentional, everyday actions.
The club’s work reflects American School Dhahran’s mission of compassionate action, encouraging students to care for others, value every member of the community and contribute positively to the world around them. Initiatives such as the Custodian Drive continue to demonstrate that service, gratitude and compassion are central to who ASD students are and how they lead.
