The ISG Jubail community gathered together to celebrate International Literacy Day, transforming the campus into a lively tribute to imagination and storytelling. The day highlighted the joy of reading while also reminding students and staff of the lasting connections that books create.

From the moment students arrived on campus in costumes of their favorite book characters, classrooms and hallways came alive with beloved heroes, magical beings and daring explorers. Teachers joined the celebration, adding to the joy and creating an inviting atmosphere where stories were shared in playful and creative ways. The colorful costumes sparked lively conversations about books and encouraged students to talk about the stories they treasure most.

One of the most memorable parts of the celebration was buddy reading. Students from different grade levels paired up and found cozy spots in classrooms to read together. Some students enjoyed listening to older students bring stories to life, while others proudly took turns reading aloud to their peers. In these shared moments, students practiced reading, built confidence and discovered the joy of connecting with a friend through storytelling.

International Literacy Day at ISG Jubail was a chance for the entire school community to reflect on how books shape curious minds and how stories inspire empathy, imagination and understanding. The day was a great reminder that literacy is more than just a skill, it’s a bridge to friendship and lifelong learning.

Thank you to our librarians, Mrs. Melat Gebreselase and Ms. Manal Alibrahim, for organizing the event, and to our teachers, staff, parents and students for making International Literacy Day such a meaningful success.
