ISG Jubail Students Lead with Voice and Vision at SSAC Meeting

How do ISG students use their voice to shape their schools? That question guided student leaders from across the district as they came together for the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council (SSAC) workshop, a day dedicated to amplifying student perspectives and strengthening leadership across campuses.
The workshop opened with a warm welcome from Superintendent Rhonda Norris, followed by an interactive session led by Uzma Ahmed from the Superintendent’s Office. Students quickly settled into the purpose of the SSAC: to create a learning community that is inclusive, respectful and innovative. By advising on decisions grounded in ISG’s mission and core values, SSAC members work to improve the school experience for every learner.
Throughout the day, students reflected on the meaning of leadership and advisory roles. They discussed influence, service, vision and action as cornerstones of leadership, and considered what it means to serve as both a voice for peers and a bridge between students and decision makers. Interactive activities helped participants practice listening, advocating, collaborating and advising with integrity and responsibility.
A highlight of the workshop was the launch of the Student Pulse Survey, an ongoing online tool designed to gather student feedback throughout the academic year. SSAC members will be responsible for reviewing submissions from their campus, summarizing results, making recommendations and sharing progress with their peers. The survey marks an important step in ensuring that student input guides meaningful change across ISG schools.
The agenda also included time to revisit the accomplishments of the 2024–25 SSAC and begin planning for the year ahead. Students explored upcoming meetings scheduled for January and March, which will focus on school culture, leadership skills, data analysis and campus action plans. By the close of the day, each representative left with clear next steps and a renewed sense of responsibility.
The workshop underscored the importance of student voice in shaping school culture and decisions. SSAC strengthens collaboration between campuses, builds individual leadership and creates strong relationships across the ISG community. Most importantly, it ensures that every decision includes the perspectives of those at the heart of learning: the students themselves.
