Superintendent Student Advisory Council at ISG Jubail Strengthens Student Voice

The Superintendent Student Advisory Council (SSAC) gathered at ISG Jubail for a meaningful meeting centered on student voice, collaboration and shared responsibility across schools. Student representatives from ISG Dammam, American School Dhahran and Sara Village School joined ISG Jubail students for a day of conversation and reflection. The meeting created space for students to listen closely to one another, compare experiences and explore ways schools can continue strengthening the student experience.
A major focus of the meeting was reviewing the Student Pulse Survey and the growing level of participation across ISG schools. Since the previous SSAC meeting, more than 1,700 survey responses were collected, with ISG Jubail contributing more than 400. This increase reflected a strong sense of trust in the process and a shared belief that student feedback matters. As SSAC members encouraged students to complete the survey, many also had meaningful conversations with teachers across campus. Teachers showed particular interest in student feedback connected to learning and classroom experience. One high school student shared, “I was impressed with how many teachers approached me about that section specifically. It means our teachers want to constantly improve so that they can best support our students’ learning.”
Throughout the day, students also shared updates on projects that are helping strengthen support systems and daily life on campus. One highlight from ISG Jubail was the development of an internal student wellbeing website, created to help students access trusted resources in one clear place. The site includes links to official support information as well as an option for students to reach out in a safe way if they are concerned about a peer. Since the website launched, the school has seen a positive shift in student support needs, including a reported 20% decrease in challenges students were facing. The SSAC discussion reinforced how thoughtful student-led ideas can make a real difference when paired with guidance, care and strong follow-through.
Students also spoke about the importance of staying connected to what their peers are experiencing day to day. SSAC members spent time across campus gathering feedback, noticing areas for improvement and thinking through how school spaces can better support student life. In one example, students noticed golf equipment that was not being used regularly and began discussing ways to include additional sports as part of after-school activities. These small observations reflected the larger purpose of SSAC, which is helping students feel ownership and connection to the community they are helping shape.
Another area of focus that emerged from student feedback was the Peer Support Group, a program that continues to grow in importance across campus. The Peer Support Group is made up of students who receive training from the school counselor on how to listen, respond with care and support their peers in appropriate ways. Students meet regularly, remain closely supervised and receive ongoing guidance as they build skills connected to empathy and responsible leadership. Based on feedback shared through the survey and student conversations, SSAC members are now working toward expanding the Peer Support Group so more students can take part in this meaningful work.
The SSAC meeting at ISG Jubail highlighted the importance of student voice and that it is strongest when it is listened to, valued and acted on with intention. Through honest reflection, shared learning and thoughtful collaboration across schools, students left the meeting feeling encouraged by what they heard and motivated by what is possible.
As the council continues its work, ISG Jubail remains grateful for the students, educators and school partners who believe in a community where every voice can help move learning forward.
