World Read Aloud Day Turns ISG Jubail Classrooms Into Story Spaces

ISG Jubail celebrated a joyful week of reading through World Read Aloud Day and the annual Book Fair, bringing students together through stories, curiosity and shared moments. From the excitement of choosing new books to the simple warmth of reading aloud with others, the week reflected the strong reading culture that continues to grow across campus.
The Book Fair ran from February 1 through February 5 and was filled with enthusiasm from students of all ages. Many students arrived with book lists, recommendations from friends and a clear sense of excitement about what they hoped to discover. Throughout the week, the fair became a welcoming space in the library where students explored new titles, talked about their favorite series and celebrated the joy of being part of a community of proud readers. A special thank you goes to our librarians, Mrs. Melat Gebreselase and Mrs. Gayathri Sankaran, for their care, organization and dedication in making the Book Fair such a meaningful experience for students and families.
“The book fair in the library this week was a whirlwind, but a rewarding one. It was fantastic to see students buzzing with excitement to explore their book choices. I lost count of how many students came back two or three times just to update their wish lists. The book fair representatives were cordial and willing to answer any questions that we had. This was an incredible experience for me personally as well.” said Mrs. Gayathri.
“Most importantly, the Book Fair highlighted our strong school reading culture. With the support of staff and parents, it became a memorable experience that strengthened our shared love for reading,” added Mrs. Melat.
World Read Aloud Day added a heartfelt highlight to the week as middle and high school students visited elementary classrooms to read aloud with younger students. Taking turns with picture books and stories, older students brought patience and kindness into each classroom. Elementary students listened closely, laughed at funny moments, took turns reading and asked thoughtful questions, clearly enjoying the chance to connect with readers they look up to.
Seeing students across grade levels share stories was a wholesome reminder of how reading strengthens a school community. These moments of collaboration helped younger students feel inspired and supported while giving older students a chance to lead through connection. ISG Jubail is grateful to all students and staff who helped make this week memorable and to the families who continue to encourage a love of reading at home and at school.
