As part of this year’s on-campus Week Without Walls (WOW Week), students at American School Dhahran took part in a hands-on LEGO design challenge focused on the school’s core value of compassionate action. The activity encouraged students to think creatively while working collaboratively to translate abstract values into tangible, meaningful structures.

Working in small groups, students used LEGO pieces to design and build symbolic representations of compassion, unity and inclusion. Among the projects were the Sword of Unity, symbolizing strength through togetherness; the Tree of Diversity, celebrating acceptance and inclusion and the Heart of Compassion, emphasizing empathy and care for others. Each group presented its creation, explaining the values behind the design and how those principles connect to real life actions within the school and the wider community.

The challenge promoted teamwork, communication and problem-solving while inviting students to reflect on the role of compassion in their daily lives. By connecting creativity with shared values, the activity highlighted how experiential learning during WOW Week supports both academic growth and character development.

Through programs like WOW Week, the school continues to provide meaningful opportunities that inspire creativity, strengthen collaboration and foster a strong sense of belonging across campus.
