Energy and Enthusiasm at BSD’s New Student Orientation Day

On 12 August, British School Dhahran hosted its New Student Orientation Day, giving new students and families the opportunity to meet members of the school community, learn more about life at BSD and become familiar with the campus ahead of the new school year.

The day began with introductions, including an opportunity for students to meet BSD’s new principal, Mr Simon Fowler. Mr Fowler spoke with students about life at BSD, encouraged them to ask questions and invited them to get involved in the many opportunities available across the school.

Primary school parents met with Mrs Dufney Botha, primary school assistant principal, who shared information about the primary school experience and answered questions to help families prepare for the year ahead.

In the senior school, Mrs Rachel Cannon, senior school assistant principal, introduced new students to the senior school community and shared guidance to help them settle into their new surroundings.

A highlight of the day was the campus tour, led by BSD’s senior student volunteers. Students explored their classrooms and key facilities, including the library, science laboratories, swimming pool and other areas of the school. Having current students lead the tours gave our new students the chance to hear about school life from those who know it best.

The student volunteers played an important role throughout the day, sharing their knowledge, answering questions and helping their new peers feel more at ease. Their enthusiasm and leadership reflected the strong sense of community that is such an important part of BSD.

Thank you to all the staff and student volunteers who helped make the day a positive start for our newest members of the BSD community. We look forward to seeing our new students settle in, build friendships and make the most of everything BSD has to offer during the year ahead.
