The ISG Dammam U16 volleyball teams recently took part in the Volleyball Jamboree, giving students an opportunity to put their preparation into practice while experiencing the challenges of playing several matches in one day. For the players and coaches, the Jamboree provided valuable experience that extended beyond the results of individual games.

In the weeks leading up to the Jamboree, the teams practiced twice a week, played several friendly matches and took part in scrimmages with the U19 teams. These opportunities helped the players become more comfortable in game situations and prepared them for the pace and demands of a full day of competition.

According to the coaches, the Jamboree offered an experience similar to SAIKAC, with teams playing matches in a row, moving between venues and having to maintain their focus even as they became tired. For the U16 players, this meant learning how to manage their energy, stay focused and continue contributing to the team throughout the day.

The coaches also noticed the players becoming more comfortable with each match. As the competition progressed, students had opportunities to adjust to the match environment and gain confidence in their decisions. Facing different teams gave them a chance to see different approaches to the game and apply their own plays and formations in new situations.

The experience also created opportunities for students to connect with athletes from other schools. Meeting new players, interacting socially and making friends added another meaningful part to the Jamboree experience. On the court, students had to adapt to different playing styles while continuing to communicate and support one another.

For the ISG Dammam team, supporting each other remained an important part of every match. The coaches encouraged players to follow a simple team rule: whether they win or lose a point, they come back together. This approach helped students respond to mistakes with encouragement and keep their focus on the next point.

The Jamboree also gave players the chance to develop skills that can be difficult to learn during practice alone. Students worked on managing their emotions when faced with referee decisions they disagreed with, staying composed during challenging situations and developing a clearer understanding of the positions where they can contribute most effectively.

For the coaches, seeing the players improve from game to game was one of the most rewarding parts of the experience. The Jamboree gave the U16 team a chance to test what they had practiced, learn from different opponents and gain a deeper understanding of themselves as players.

Through competition, the students returned with greater confidence and a stronger sense of how they can support one another on the court. Their Jamboree experience added another chapter to their development as athletes while giving them memories, friendships and lessons they can carry into future matches.
