The ISG Dammam U19 girls’ and boys’ volleyball teams took part in the Volleyball Jamboree at American School Dhahran and British School Dhahran, competing against teams from across the ISG community and putting their preparation, teamwork and determination to the test.
For the girls, the competition was an opportunity to demonstrate their skills while facing strong opponents. They delivered an impressive performance, winning all but one of their matches. Their coach, Ms. Moumita, praised their ability to maintain focus, communicate effectively and support one another under pressure.
Reflecting on their performance, she shared that what made her especially proud was seeing the players grow in confidence, believe in themselves and compete as a united team. Their determination to fight for every point demonstrated that success extends beyond match results to include resilience and team spirit.
For the boys, competing at the U19 level meant facing a higher standard of volleyball, with experienced opponents and matches where small mistakes could make a difference. Coaches Sara and Hassan highlighted the intensity of the competition and the importance of staying focused, communicating well and maintaining good sportsmanship throughout the games. They also noted the players’ awareness of the rules and court dimensions, reflecting their understanding of the game.
One of the defining aspects of the boys’ experience was the way they supported one another on the court. Coach Sara explained that after every point, whether won or lost, the players gathered in the middle to celebrate or encourage a teammate who had missed a point. These interactions gave the players opportunities to develop leadership, take responsibility and refocus on the next play. Coach Hassan similarly praised their positive attitude, noting how they continued communicating and encouraging one another even after mistakes.
This year, ISG Dammam fielded two U19 boys’ teams to give more players the opportunity to participate and receive equal playing time. Coach Sara was proud of how both teams embraced the opportunity and gave their best throughout the Jamboree. Coach Hassan was equally encouraged by their performances against strong opponents, recognizing their potential to compete at a high level. As he explained, “We have the potential to compete at a high level and seriously challenge for the championship title this year.”
The competition also tested the boys’ endurance. One student described playing back-to-back matches without breaks as one of the most challenging parts of the Jamboree. Despite the exhaustion, the players had to keep pushing forward. For another student, one of the most memorable experiences was the match against ASD. Although ISG Dammam lost, he was proud of how the team performed against a strong opponent, holding their own and demonstrating determination throughout the match.
From the girls’ strong results to the boys’ perseverance and ambition, the Jamboree gave the ISG Dammam U19 volleyball teams valuable opportunities to challenge themselves, learn from experienced opponents and strengthen their teamwork. The experience also provided a foundation for continued growth as they prepare for future competitions.
