ISG Jubail recently welcomed students, families and staff to a special ceremony celebrating the National Honor Society (NHS), recognizing students who demonstrate a commitment to scholarship, service, leadership and character. The gathering marked an important milestone for new members and offered the school community an opportunity to celebrate the values that guide their work and contributions.
Supervisor Desiree Martin welcomed guests before Principal Kristin Kappelman addressed the audience and introduced the student president, who led the ceremony. The program centered on the four pillars of NHS, each representing an important part of what it means to contribute positively to a community.
Student representatives introduced each pillar through readings and a candle-lighting ceremony. As each candle was lit, the students reflected on the meaning of scholarship, service, leadership and character. Together, the four pillars represented a commitment to learning, helping others, taking responsibility and making thoughtful choices.
The ceremony continued with NHS members standing together to recite the pledge, reaffirming their commitment to the organization and its values. Current members were also recognized before the student leaders signed the chapter registry, marking the occasion as an important part of the chapter’s ongoing journey.
For students, membership in NHS represents a responsibility that extends beyond academic achievement. It encourages them to use their strengths in ways that benefit others, take initiative when opportunities arise and remain mindful of the example they set for those around them. These qualities help shape a school community where students can learn from one another and contribute in meaningful ways.
Following the formal program and closing remarks, new members had the opportunity to greet their families before everyone gathered to enjoy cake and celebrate together.
The ceremony marked an exciting milestone for ISG Jubail, bringing the community together to celebrate a new chapter for the National Honor Society. As the first NHS ceremony at ISG Jubail in several years, it was a special occasion for students and families to recognize the values and contributions that will shape the chapter’s future.
