Rock the House 2026: Celebrating Student Musicians and Live Performance at BSD
SHARE
This year’s Rock the House event looked a little different from previous years, providing student musicians with the opportunity to perform simply for the love of music.
Following a shorter rehearsal period due to two months of virtual learning, the traditional House of Rock competition format was set aside in favour of a showcase celebrating live performance, creativity and collaboration. The evening featured a variety of musical styles, from atmospheric and harmony-rich contemporary songs to energetic 1990s-inspired classics and powerful heavy metal instrumentals.
Students demonstrated impressive musical ability, versatility and confidence on stage, with seamless instrument changes, strong technical performances and engaging stage presence throughout the event. One student shared that performing live was an exciting opportunity to connect with an audience and express their passion for music, while another student reflected on the enjoyment of rehearsing and performing alongside fellow band members.
The event was a fantastic celebration of student talent and a reminder of the important role music plays in bringing the school community together, with every performance contributing to a memorable evening that truly lived up to its name and rocked the house.
