ISG held its first Superintendent Student Advisory Council (SSAC) meeting of the academic year on Tuesday, October 6, bringing together 38 students representing all five campuses. We were pleased to welcome both returning and new council members as they began another year of collaboration, leadership, and meaningful student engagement.

The meeting opened with an interactive activity highlighting the importance of data collection, follow up, and closing the feedback loop. As representatives of student voices across their campuses, SSAC members play an important role in ensuring that student perspectives are not only heard but also understood, communicated, and acted upon. Through this activity, students explored how effective advisory leadership involves actively listening to their peers, gathering diverse perspectives, and following through on feedback to help create positive change within their school communities.

Students also reflected on ISG’s core values and how these connect to the leadership, communication, and advisory skills needed to represent their campuses effectively. Discussions emphasized the importance of fostering a positive campus culture, strengthening relationships, and supporting student wellbeing across the ISG community.

The session concluded with students sharing thoughtful and meaningful feedback on the upcoming Student Pulse Check Survey, which will soon launch across all five campuses. Their insights will help ensure the survey provides students with an opportunity to share their experiences and perspectives.

We look forward to working closely with the council throughout the year and continuing to strengthen student voice, leadership, and engagement across our school community.
