ISG Jubail’s lower elementary Marketplace Exhibition was a wonderful and exciting experience for our students, families and visitors. Students proudly displayed the products they planned and created as part of their integrated social studies, science, math and literacy unit. Parents and students from other grade levels joined in the experience, using pretend currency to purchase products and support our young entrepreneurs, helping make the exhibition a tremendous success.

Throughout the exhibition, students, alongside their teachers Mrs. Jamie Fredenburg, Mrs. Oyun Ostrowski, Mrs. Catherine Gloria and Mrs. Geneve Mendoza applied important skills such as communication, collaboration, creativity, problem-solving and business planning. Students confidently explained their products, handled pretend money and experienced what it feels like to be real producers and sellers.

Before opening their booths to visitors, students spent weeks preparing for the exhibition. Working through an integrated unit that connected social studies, science, mathematics and literacy, they planned their products, explored basic business concepts and developed the skills needed to bring their ideas to life. Classrooms became busy workshops as students created a variety of items including fresh salads, smoothies, handmade bracelets and other products. Along the way, they practiced budgeting, pricing, marketing and teamwork while learning how entrepreneurs turn ideas into reality.

To wrap up their learning, students participated in a fun digital quiz review game where they reflected on everything they learned about producers, consumers, natural resources, trade, goods and services, as well as the properties of materials and changing states of matter, including solids, liquids and gases. Students also discussed what they could do next time to make their businesses even more successful.

At the end of the event, students received special awards to celebrate their hard work, creativity, teamwork and amazing business spirit. The day concluded with a classroom celebration filled with snacks and lots of smiles as everyone reflected on this memorable learning experience together.

We are so proud of our elementary students for their enthusiasm, creativity, effort and growth throughout this exciting project!
