ISG Open Day

Dear Parents,

We are very much looking forward to welcoming students back to campus on Sunday, August 18. Please keep an eye on your inbox for a letter from your school principal with more information.

We were thrilled to welcome new ISG families to ASD and BSD for their New Student Open Days and are excited to do the same at ISG Dammam and ISG Jubail this Saturday.

On Saturday, August 17, ISG teachers and staff will be dedicating the day to preparing for the first day of school, ensuring everything is ready to welcome our students back on August 18.

ASD, ISG Dammam and ISG Jubail follow a school dress code. Please check your student parent handbook on the ISG Hub for details.

BSD’s school uniform can be purchased from ZAKS. Please check your student parent handbook, available on the ISG Hub, for details.

SVS’s school uniform can be purchased from the school office.

As the new school year begins, we want to ensure that every child's journey to and from school is as safe as possible. The Transport General Authority (TGA) has set important guidelines for educational transportation, including driver qualifications and safety features on school buses. We kindly encourage parents to double-check that their chosen transportation provider meets these standards. Your child's safety is our top priority, and by choosing compliant transport options, you can help ensure a secure and pleasant ride every day. For more details about these guidelines, please visit this article.

As an educational organization, professional development for our staff is essential to remain relevant for student learning and to ensure our support staff are current to support our learning environment. We plan on-campus opportunities at ISG and our staff participate in off-campus experiences as well.

This week, 400 ISG staff and teachers came together for a full day of learning. Thirty  staff members delivered 24 presentations on a range of topics surrounding our theme of acceptance, inclusion and respect. Due to a family emergency, Dr. Sean Truman was unable to attend, however the event still featured interesting, engaging and thought provoking sessions. I would like to sincerely thank all those who facilitated sessions, the operations and facilities team and the teaching and learning team for all their work to provide a welcoming and enriching experience for us all. You can watch a recap of the event here.

Over the summer, Ms. Ashlie Jensen and student Eden Bearns from ASD attended the Best Buddies Leadership Conference at Indiana University to represent the ISG chapter and Saudi Arabia. During the three-day conference, they met people from all over the world working to spread inclusion, including the founder, Anthony Kennedy Shriver. The Best Buddies program at ISG has quickly grown to be one of the largest and most active clubs at ASD and BSD with over 80 students participating last year. The Best Buddies organization is dedicated to spreading awareness and inclusion of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

British School Dhahran has announced the release of the 2024 A level examination results from both the Pearson Edexcel and Cambridge Assessment International Education examination boards. Congratulations to our graduates on their hard work and dedication.  We look forward to sharing details in the near future.

Thank you again to your family for choosing ISG for your child(ren)’s education. We look forward to a wonderful start to the school year!

Warm Regards,

Rhonda Norris
