On September 18, ISG Jubail hosted its first middle school Parent Coffee Morning of the year, bringing together families and staff for meaningful conversations and connection. The morning began with parents sharing coffee and breakfast, filling the room with an atmosphere of warmth and community.
Principal Dr. Jamie Martin, Assistant Principal Sanjeev Jangra and Middle and High School Counselor Tricia Jordaan introduced themselves and welcomed families. Together, they guided an open discussion focused on communication, expectations and the overall student experience in middle school.
The purpose of the Parent Coffee Morning was clear: to strengthen ISG Jubail’s long-term goal of building a strong, connected community. Parents asked thoughtful questions about schedules and communication and staff shared insights about both academic and personal growth.
Counselor Tricia Jordaan spoke about the importance of balance and wellbeing, emphasizing how academics, sleep and life outside of school all play a role in healthy development. She explained how these themes are discussed with students and emphasized throughout the school day.
The morning also gave families an overview of daily life in middle and high school. Each day begins with advisory and an opening circle, creating a welcoming start to the morning. Mr. Jangra highlighted the goal of offering a broad range of subjects, from STEAM to the arts, along with opportunities such as band performances and art exhibitions.
Independence was a key theme of the discussion. Parents heard about how this skill is introduced and nurtured from elementary years, strengthened through middle school and developed further as students prepare to leave ISG Jubail as young adults. Staff also addressed student expectations, the importance of clear communication and the value of creating an approachable environment where students feel safe and supported.
The conversation also touched on activities beyond the classroom. Clubs and after-school programs were shared, with special excitement around the Eco Club, which drew more than 60 sign-ups this year. Parents expressed appreciation for the variety of opportunities available, from academics to extracurriculars, that help students explore passions and build confidence.
The morning ended with a sense of partnership between parents and staff, reinforcing the idea that student growth is strongest when home and school work hand in hand. Thank you to all parents who joined us for the Parent Coffee Morning, and to our teachers and staff for making it a meaningful experience for our community.
