The British School Dhahran (BSD) recently held its annual Sixth Form Parents' Information Evening to introduce families to the academic and personal development opportunities available for students entering Years 12 and 13.
The event showcased the growth of the Sixth Form, which has expanded from 14 students in 2015 to 66 in 2025. BSD follows the National Curriculum for England, offering a rigorous academic environment where students typically pursue three A level subjects and an Extended Project Qualification or four A level subjects.
A broad range of subjects is available, including sciences, mathematics, humanities and arts, all with high entry standards. Students are also encouraged to engage in extracurricular and super curricular activities to support personal growth and strengthen university applications.
The evening highlighted the importance of developing leadership, organisation and communication skills through leadership roles, community service and independent projects. University guidance was a key focus, with most BSD graduates continuing their studies in the United Kingdom, Canada or Australia, particularly in engineering, medicine and computing.
Parents were advised to plan early, set realistic expectations and support their children in exploring various higher education pathways, including experiences beyond academics such as volunteering, online courses and work placements. The event concluded with refreshments and open discussions, reinforcing BSD’s commitment to academic excellence and preparing students for future challenges.
