This week, British School Dhahran (BSD) welcomed Olympic gold medallist Anna Hopkin (MBE), who inspired and motivated Primary and Year 11 students.

Her visit provided a valuable opportunity to meet one of Britain’s top swimmers and learn about dedication, resilience and success.

Anna Hopkin, Tokyo 2020 Olympic Champion, won gold in the 4x100m mixed medley relay and holds the British record in the 100m freestyle. As a two-time Olympian and 13-time international medallist at major championships, she was awarded an MBE for her contributions to swimming.

Anna shared her journey from her first swimming club to the Olympic podium, highlighting how perseverance, self belief and hard work lead to achievement. She encouraged students to pursue excellence in all areas.

The visit concluded with a training session for the BSD Swim Team, where Anna provided practical tips, encouragement and insight into professional swimming.

The British School Dhahran is proud to have hosted Anna Hopkin. Her visit reminded students that with determination, focus and passion, anything is possible in the pool and in life.
