On 14 October, students from British School Dhahran’s (BSD) Best Buddies Club visited ACCEL School for their first field trip of the academic year. This visit launched a partnership focused on fostering inclusion, understanding and friendship between both schools.
BSD students met their ACCEL buddies for the first time, participating in activities that encouraged communication, teamwork and creativity. The event reflected both schools’ shared values of empathy, respect and inclusion, reinforcing their commitment to supporting every learner.
The Best Buddies programme is an international initiative that fosters friendships and social inclusion for individuals with intellectual and developmental differences. At BSD, it offers students meaningful service learning experiences that promote compassion, understanding and leadership. Through their connection with ACCEL students, BSD participants saw firsthand how inclusion and small acts of kindness can have a lasting impact.
We sincerely thank the ACCEL team for their warm hospitality, engaging activities and generous refreshments. Their enthusiasm and collaboration created a welcoming environment where all students felt comfortable and valued.
Such visits are an essential part of BSD’s broader educational philosophy, which recognises the importance of developing character, empathy and social responsibility alongside academic achievement. These experiences not only enhance students’ understanding of diversity and inclusion but also help them cultivate interpersonal skills that will benefit them throughout life.
At BSD, we believe education extends beyond academics to nurturing responsible global citizens who show kindness, respect and the courage to make a positive impact. The Best Buddies visit to ACCEL exemplifies this mission by demonstrating how compassion and collaboration can unite students and strengthen our community.
We look forward to continuing our partnership with ACCEL and to future visits that will strengthen friendships, promote understanding and inspire our students to practice empathy and inclusion in all aspects of their lives.
