Engineering in Action at ISG Jubail BAE Systems STEM Workshop
SHARE
ISG Jubail welcomed elementary and middle school students for a STEM workshop supported by British Aerospace, BAE Systems. The visit created a steady rhythm of excitement across campus as students moved into activities that encouraged them to think, question and experiment.
During the workshop, students explored the physics of flight, learning how forces such as lift, thrust, drag and gravity interact to make an aircraft move and stay airborne. They discovered how wing shape, weight distribution and airflow affect stability and performance, giving them a practical understanding of aerodynamics while designing and testing their paper airplanes and helicopters.
Students spent the day creating and testing paper aeroplanes and helicopters, learning how small changes in design influence movement and lift. Conversations filled the room as students compared ideas, adjusted their models and encouraged one another through each trial. Their curiosity grew with every attempt and the workshop allowed them to see how STEM concepts come alive through hands-on exploration.
The session reflected ISG Jubail’s ongoing effort to expand meaningful STEM opportunities for young learners. By working through challenges together and exploring real-world applications of engineering and science, students strengthened their confidence and developed a deeper appreciation for collaborative problem-solving.
ISG Jubail is grateful to BAE Systems and the visiting students for creating a day that celebrated curiosity and the joy of learning.
