ISG Dammam launched an early celebration of World Arabic Language Day with a rich and engaging set of performances that highlighted the beauty and depth of the Arabic language. Although the global celebration falls on December 18, our community came together this week to honor the language, its history, its passion and its influence across generations.
As part of the celebration, Mrs. Dina Aboueita’s Grade 9 and Grade 10 students presented a play titled “The Arabic Language Complains About Its Condition.” The performance was delivered in Modern Standard Arabic, or Fus’ha Arabic, and brought to life powerful figures from Arabic literature drawn from both ancient periods and more recent eras. Students expressed the voice of the Arabic language with passion while giving the audience a glimpse into its journey through time. Their thoughtful delivery encouraged viewers to reflect on the importance of preserving and celebrating language in daily life.
The celebration also continued with the ISG Dammam Arabic Club, whose members have been preparing a series of dramatic pieces inspired by famous Arabic plays. Their performances will be presented to multiple grade levels throughout the week. Each piece honors classical stories and modern works that shaped Arabic literature and theatre. Students have practiced with dedication, and their efforts reflect a strong commitment to cultural pride along with a desire to share these works with peers across the school.
This year’s World Arabic Language Day celebration has offered our community a meaningful opportunity to appreciate the expressive power of Arabic. It has helped students learn more about linguistic heritage and has strengthened a deep sense of cultural connection within the school.
