As part of American School Dhahran’s Week Without Walls, middle school students participated in the Marshmallow Tower Challenge workshop, an engaging, hands-on activity that blended creativity, collaboration and problem-solving.

Working against the clock, student teams were challenged to design and build the tallest and most imaginative tower using limited materials: one marshmallow, 20 spaghetti sticks and sticky tape. The activity encouraged students to think critically, test engineering concepts and adapt their designs as they worked alongside their peers.

Throughout the workshop, students demonstrated strong teamwork and communication skills while exploring creative solutions under time constraints. The friendly competition added an element of excitement, motivating teams to outsmart one another while maintaining a spirit of collaboration and fun.

The Marshmallow Tower Challenge reflected the goals of Week Without Walls by extending learning beyond the traditional classroom and providing meaningful opportunities for experiential learning.
