ASD Upper Elementary Students Explore Innovation Through 3D Printing

Upper elementary students at American School Dhahran recently combined literacy, creativity and technology through an engaging interdisciplinary project focused on American innovation and 3D printing.

As part of their English unit, students explored how innovation and technology continue to shape industries and everyday life. Through their studies, students learned how 3D printing is used by builders, doctors and chefs, while also gaining an understanding of the design and production process behind the technology.

Inspired by their learning, students applied their knowledge through a hands-on design project using the digital platform Tinkercad. Working creatively and collaboratively, students designed original 3D models that reflected both imagination and problem-solving skills. With the support of Mr. Ham, students then brought their ideas to life using ASD’s 3D printer.

The project highlighted ASD’s commitment to providing students with innovative, future-focused learning experiences that encourage creativity, critical thinking and real-world application. Students also participated in a class vote to recognize the top five 3D designs, celebrating both effort and achievement within the classroom community.

Through opportunities such as this, ASD continues to empower students to explore emerging technologies while developing the confidence and skills needed for future success.
