ASD Elementary Students Celebrate Narrative Writing Through Family Learning Event

Our Elementary School students celebrated the completion of their first narrative writing unit by sharing their learning with ASD staff and parents.

During the celebration, each student sat with their parent and shared a piece of writing about their favorite celebration. Parents engaged their children in conversation by asking questions that encouraged reflection and deeper thinking about their writing and learning.

The experience gave students a chance to share what they had learned about the components of writing, reflect on their progress and proudly showcase work they had created throughout the unit. It also provided parents with a meaningful look into their children’s learning and the skills they are developing as writers.

It was a wonderful way for our school community to come together and celebrate student learning and achievement. We thank Grade 4 teachers Maxine Marbury, Andrew Cole and Adam Schuessler for creating such a meaningful close to the unit, and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Michelle Alzamora, Head of Education Technology Hayden Williams and Data, Assessment and Curriculum Coordinator Alicia Berry for joining our students and parents for the celebration.
