Elementary students at ISG Jubail have been putting their creativity into words as they explored personal narratives and found new ways to bring their experiences to life.

Alongside their teachers Marcia Chicupa, Valerie Nunes and Ann Kaufman, students worked on their writing with a focus on figurative language and descriptive details. Their narratives gave them an opportunity to reflect on their experiences and express their ideas in meaningful ways.

The learning continued beyond writing their first drafts. Students edited and revised their work, learning that strong writing develops through thoughtful reflection and continued effort. “Writing was a journey, not just a finished product,” said teacher Valerie Nunes.

Students also had the chance to share their writing with one another. Their peers moved from one table to another, listening to each other’s stories and discovering the different ideas and experiences their classmates had put into words. The activity created a supportive space where students could celebrate each other’s work while learning from different perspectives.

Students also added their own creative touches to their books, decorating and coloring the covers to bring their individuality and personality into their finished pieces. These details gave each book its own character and allowed students to express themselves beyond the words on the page.

As they reflected on their progress, students considered how their writing had developed and identified areas they would like to continue working on. The experience encouraged them to see themselves as growing authors whose skills will continue to develop with practice.

At ISG Jubail, we are proud to see our elementary students finding their voices, sharing their stories and supporting one another as they grow as writers.
