Eco Club Advances ISG Jubail’s Green Flag Journey
SHARE
The Eco Club at ISG Jubail is making progress toward the Green Flag Award, with students in grades 5 to 12 reflecting on the environmental initiatives they have taken part in and preparing for the next stage of their journey. Their work reflects a shared commitment to caring for the environment and making sustainability part of everyday school life.
The Green Flag Award recognizes schools working to make a positive environmental impact through student-led action and ongoing improvement. British School Dhahran, Sara Village Campus, a fellow schools within the ISG community, was the first school in Saudi Arabia to receive the Green Flag status in 2025-26. Their achievement offers an inspiring example as ISG Jubail continues working toward this recognition.
For Eco Club members, reaching the next stage means looking closely at the work already completed. Students are now moving into the auditing stage, reviewing their initiatives and working through the required application process. This gives them an opportunity to consider what they have achieved, what they have learned and where their efforts could make an even greater difference.
Throughout their journey, students have been involved in initiatives that encourage more thoughtful environmental habits across campus. Their work has included raising awareness about waste, recycling and ways to reuse materials. As they reflect on these efforts, students can see how individual actions contribute to a wider school commitment to sustainability.
The auditing process also encourages students to look beyond the activities themselves and consider their impact. Reflecting on what worked well and what could be improved helps them approach environmental challenges with responsibility. These are valuable skills that students can carry into their lives beyond school.
With students from grades 5 to 12 contributing their ideas and experiences, the Eco Club brings together different age groups around a shared purpose. Each student has a role to play and a voice to share in shaping a more environmentally conscious campus and their continued involvement helps keep sustainability part of the conversation at ISG Jubail.
As the Eco Club moves forward with its Green Flag application, the journey is an opportunity to recognize progress while continuing to find practical ways to care for the environment together.
