Spanish Teacher
Position Description
Summary
We are seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Spanish teacher who will be part of a dynamic and highly successful global language department. The position carries responsibility for teaching Spanish to our MS/HS students. The HS Spanish classes may involve advanced language learners and/or frameworks, including the possibility of IBDP Spanish B, Ab Initio, and/or AP Spanish.

Position Duties
The successful candidate will be able to effectively:
- Demonstrate commitment to the safety and security of children and young people (child protection).
- Plan and deliver lessons in accordance with the goals and objectives of a clearly defined and documented curriculum.
- Deliver an active, hands-on, and student-centered program to promote learning in Spanish to MS/HSl students.
- Maintain students' attendance records, grades, and other required records.
- Evaluate and grade students' classwork and assignments.
- Compile, administer, and grade examinations.
- Assist students who need extra help with their coursework outside of class.
- Observe, monitor, and record student progress.
- Respond appropriately to the range of individual needs and abilities within the class.
- Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions.
- Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction.
- Plan and deliver high-quality Spanish language instruction (with possible IBDP or AP frameworks).
- Develop assessments aligned with IB criteria, ensuring regular formative and summative evaluations that reflect the IB standards (if role includes IBDP).
- Contribute to the development and review of IB curriculum documents, unit planners, and language scope and sequence (if role includes IBDP).
- Keep abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.
- Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research issues.
- Demonstrate creativity.
- Serve on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, departmental matters, and academic issues.
- Provide supervision to student “after school activity” or coach/assistant coach athletic teams.
- Maintain a safe learning environment for students and staff at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal and/or the Assistant Principal.
Qualifications and Knowledge
The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree with a qualification in Spanish.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Certification as a teacher.
- Excellent command of Spanish, as a native language, and English, both written and oral.

Experience
- Previous experience as MS/HS Spanish teacher.
- Previous experience in teaching IBDP Spanish (preferred).
Skills
- Sound knowledge of teaching Spanish to MS/HS students.
- Excellent command of Spanish, as a native language, and English, both written and oral.
- Highly-developed classroom management skill.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Maturity to handle a range of situations.
- Sound knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
- Loyalty and a high level of confidentiality.
