The 2025 BSD Sports Awards, An Annual Celebration of Athletic Excellence

This academic year, an impressive 230 students from the BSD Senior School proudly represented the school in competitive sports, this is an outstanding 56% of our student body. This remarkable level of participation reflects the strong sporting culture and enthusiasm that continues to grow at BSD.

Our annual Sports Awards Evening was a celebration of these achievements, with 171 students, 36 coaches and school leaders in attendance, including Superintendent Rhonda Norris, Principal David Bolton, Senior Principal Rachel Cannon and Primary Principal Dufney Botha. The evening recognised individual and team successes across the year, with awards presented for Most Valuable Player, Coaches' Player and Emerging Player in each team.

Special recognition was also given through prestigious awards, including:

  • KS3 Sportsman & Sportswoman of the Year
  • KS4 Outstanding Contribution to School Sport
  • KS5 Sportsman & Sportswoman of the Year
  • Lion & Lioness of the Year
  • Team of the Year

The event featured alumni guest presenters, many of whom returned to give back to the BSD community and a moving performance by a former student who sang during the sit-down meal. The gym was truly alive with talent, pride and celebration!

BSD teams achieved outstanding results this season:

  • 14 championship titles
  • 8 second place finishes
  • 5 third place finishes

Our individual athletes also shone across swimming, tennis and athletics events, collecting:

  • 30 gold medals
  • 23 silver medals
  • 20 bronze medals

BSD’s athletic success this year was unmatched as we are the highest performing school in SAIKAC this academic year. In addition, we made history with:

  • Back-to-back SAIKAC championships in Badminton and Football
  • Our first-ever SAIKAC finals victories in Boys Volleyball and Basketball
  • Being crowned champions at the BSME Games for the very first time

It has been a phenomenal year for BSD Sport, and we are incredibly proud of all our student athletes, coaches and parents who made it possible.
