Connections Grow Through Pen Pal Advisory at ISG Jubail

Over the past several weeks, middle and high school students at ISG Jubail have been part of a unique advisory experience that brought them closer in unexpected ways. Through a pen pal initiative, students began exchanging handwritten letters with a mystery peer, not knowing who was writing back to them.

Each week, students eagerly received and responded to thoughtful, encouraging messages. The anonymity added a layer of curiosity and excitement, allowing students to express themselves freely and focus on building connections through words. What started as a simple writing activity soon became something more meaningful, as students found comfort and joy in sharing stories, thoughts and kind messages with someone new.

The experience came to a joyful close with a reveal on the outdoor court. Students gathered in anticipation, wondering who had been behind the letters they had looked forward to each week. Laughter filled the air as pen pals finally met. There were hugs, smiles and moments of surprise as students discovered the identities of their writing partners.

This advisory activity reminded our school community of the value of connection, kindness and shared experience. Through letters, students built bridges across grades and friend groups, creating memories that will stay with them long after the final envelope was opened.
