A New Chapter for Student Voice at BSD

On September 15, 31 students leaders from all ISG campuses gathered in the Teaching and Learning Rooms for the first Superintendent Student Advisory Council (SSAC) meeting of the academic year.

The SSAC serves as a key connection between students and ISG leadership, advocating for student needs and offering insights to guide decisions. This year, committee members are responsible for ensuring every student's experience is represented and valued.

Hosted by ISG Superintendent Rhonda Norris and facilitated by Organizational Development Lead Uzma Ahmed, the meeting focused on empowering students in their advisory roles. Interactive activities and discussions helped students connect their leadership responsibilities to their committee roles. One key activity involved aligning ISG’s core values with the SSAC’s advisory functions, highlighting how these principles guide their work.

A key highlight was the launch of the new ISG Student Pulse Check Survey, which will collect ongoing feedback from students across all campuses. The SSAC will lead this initiative by analyzing survey results, identifying trends and providing actionable recommendations to ISG leaders. This feedback will drive positive change and enable the committee to follow up on actions taken in response to student input.

This year will be pivotal for the SSAC as they strive to make a meaningful difference for their peers. We look forward to the positive impact they will have at BSD.
