BSD Shines at SAIKAC Track & Field in Riyadh and Brings Home 29 Medals

Earlier this April, British School Dhahran proudly participated in the SAIKAC Track & Field competition hosted by AISR in Riyadh. This year marked a milestone for BSD, as our largest athletics team to date—12 talented and determined athletes—took to the field, reflecting the exciting growth of our athletics program.

The event brought together a mix of seasoned competitors and enthusiastic newcomers, each taking on events that showcased the core elements of athletics: running, jumping, and throwing. Whether trying a new discipline or aiming for a personal best, every athlete demonstrated commitment, sportsmanship, and a passion for sport.

Our sixth form U19 student led the team as captain, setting a strong example through encouragement and leadership, and helping to unify the group across Years 6 through 11. Their presence highlighted the inclusive and developmental spirit that defines athletics at BSD.

The state-of-the-art venue provided the perfect setting for athletes to compete in all track and field disciplines, and our students rose to the occasion—bringing home an impressive 14 gold medals, 10 silver medals, and 5 bronze medals.

We are incredibly proud of our athletes and the momentum building around athletics at BSD. With this year’s success as inspiration, we look forward to returning next year with an even larger and stronger team.
