Upper Elementary Students Welcome Learners to Their Next Journey at ISG Jubail

ISG Jubail recently created a meaningful opportunity for students to connect across grade levels as upper elementary students stepped into leadership roles to welcome their lower elementary peers for a special transition experience. Designed alongside Mrs. Valerie Logsdon, Ms. Ann Kaufman, Mrs. Marcia Chicupa, Mrs. Jasbinder Jangra and Mrs. Menchie Caubalejo, the event allowed younger students to explore life in upper elementary while learning directly from those already experiencing it each day.

At the heart of the experience was a student-created choice board that encouraged visitors to discover different aspects of upper elementary life. Rather than simply hearing about the transition, lower elementary students were invited to explore, ask questions and engage with activities designed and facilitated by student leaders themselves. The approach created a welcoming environment where curiosity, conversation and connection naturally flourished.

One activity invited visitors to browse a Padlet featuring books upper elementary students had read throughout the second semester. As younger students explored recommendations and reviews, they gained insight into the school's reading culture while discovering titles they may one day enjoy themselves. Another popular station featured the "Survive Upper Elementary" booklet, which introduced classroom routines, shared fun facts about Mrs. Logsdon and offered a lighthearted look at what makes a memorable year.

Visitors also had the opportunity to explore writing samples and published pieces created by upper elementary students. Reading authentic student work gave younger learners a glimpse into the progress and growth that take place throughout the year while helping them imagine their own future accomplishments.

Perhaps the most meaningful aspect of the experience was the leadership demonstrated by the upper elementary students. They confidently guided discussions, answered questions and shared personal experiences, helping younger students approach the transition with greater excitement and confidence. Their willingness to support and encourage their peers reflected the caring culture that continues to define the ISG Jubail community.

By creating opportunities for students to learn from one another, ISG Jubail continues to strengthen relationships across grade levels while encouraging leadership, mentorship and belonging.

As lower elementary students prepare for their next chapter, they do so with familiar faces, helpful advice and a stronger sense of connection to the community that awaits them.
