On May 22, American School Dhahran’s Arabic Voices Club marked the end of a successful school year with a memorable field trip to the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, Ithra. More than 100 students participated in the experience, which centered around a private screening of Hajjan, a compelling Saudi film that highlights themes of tradition, identity and the power of storytelling.

The film offered students a deeper look into the cultural values and heritage they have explored throughout the year in their Arabic and Ministry of Education classes. It also provided a unique opportunity to engage with the Arabic language in an artistic and emotionally resonant context.

After the screening, the group visited Shajarat Al-Durr restaurant, where students and staff shared a meal and reflected on the themes of the film and the broader learning journey they have taken together.

This trip was more than just a celebration of the end of the year. It was a meaningful moment to honor the growth students have made in mastering the Arabic language and understanding the culture, history and perspectives that shape it.

The Arabic Voices Club continues to encourage a sense of curiosity, connection and pride in language learning. Events like this serve as a reminder of the powerful role education plays in building bridges between cultures and creating lasting memories for students and staff alike.
