The ASD sports department hosted the U14 Athletics and Conference Activities Awards on June 2, 2024.
The following categories were awarded: Most Improved, Impact Player, Dedication award and Most Valuable Player (MVP). The recipients of these awards were chosen from SAIKAC and Jamboree teams in the following sports and activities; volleyball, indoor cricket, badminton, soccer, basketball, cross-country, swimming, tennis and band and choir. Over 70 awards were received, with three special award categories.
This included the coaches' recognition received by Mrs. Antonette Briones for her 20+ years of service to the school. Mrs. Briones has been an integral and dedicated part of the ASD sports program coaching high school and middle school teams sharing her knowledge and bringing a positive energy to the Scorpions family. We thank her for all she has done and continue to contribute to the program.
The ASD U14 Athlete of the year is a prestigious award and was tightly contested over in the 23/24 sports season. The U14 Boys Athlete of the year was awarded to an athlete who participated in over five different sporting teams throughout the year, and participated in four different SAIKAC tournaments. He showed leadership, dedication, humility and achieved immense success throughout the year.
The U14 Girls Athlete of the year was awarded to an athlete who participated in multiple sports throughout the year, she also represented various age groups being selected for the All NESAC team at the U19 basketball tournament in Abu Dhabi, and representing the U16 girls SAIKAC soccer team. She has been dedicated to her personal growth as an athlete and exemplifies the definition of a leader. She is highly regarded by her peers and coaches and will be a force to be reckoned with as she enters her high school sports career.

The ASD U14 Athletics program aims to continue providing opportunities for all students while building on the success achieved in our competitive sports program. This year, a U12 sports program was initiated, which saw great participation and will continue next year for elementary students.
Thank you to all of our coaches, parents and athletes. We can't wait to see back at ASD, Home of the Scorpions, in 2024-25.
