ASD IB Induction Meeting

American School Dhahran held their annual International Baccalaureate Induction Meeting last month.  Students in Grade 12 welcomed students from Grade 11 into the program, offered their support, and shared their experience in the program thus far.

For Grade 11, this was an opportunity to hear about the program from a student perspective, learn from their peers and build relationships with those who have started the program before them.

Currently there are 17 students in Year 2 of the full IB Diploma program, and 17 students joined the program this year.

Students at ASD can also choose to enroll in individual IB courses without the full Diploma.  Last year, students in Grade 11 enrolled in 33 IB courses and this year Grade 11 enrollment in IB courses increased to 56.

At ISG we love to see relationships growing across different grade levels, and the support and solidarity our students show one another especially through the IB Programme.

The IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) is a rigorous, globally recognized program that offers a holistic education focused on liberal arts.  It emphasizes character development and international-mindedness, and develops critical thinking skills and independent research skills.  It also requires students to participate in extracurricular activities and to have consistent time-management and self-management skills.

In the IBDP, students are assessed externally and diplomas and certificates are awarded in the summer after graduation.
